So I had heard so many amazing things about the new Hourglass Vanish foundation stick. All the photos looked amazing from flawless application & coverage to the longevity of the product. The foundation is in a triangle shaped sleek shiny container and is extremely pleasing to the eye. Im quite big on products being aesthetically pleasing and this one ticked all of the outside boxes, but was it to good to be true? Were all the bloggers and social media influencers who received this product flawless to begin with? Did their magical editing apps ( the ones that clearly use them) do the trick and in turn trick me? Im quite frugal with how I spend my money, being self employed and saving for a house with my partner while trying to live in a country where cosmetics are as luxurious in price as diamonds is quite hard, I cant just splash the cash on a whim hoping to love a product and if I don't think oh well it can just go into my endless draws of makeup that didn't live up to the standards. ( I wish I had these draws, I would live in these draws and be as happy as Lary)
So I did some more research, I Ummed and Ahhed, pleaded with my partner, pleaded with myself on wether I should splurge the $67 on another foundation to which I have countless. But I took the plunge, I strutted my way into that Mecca Cosmetica like I was the Kim Kardashian of Canberra ready to get my Hot on. With my brown body and pale white face ready to concur the world, I grabbed that stick and colour matched it to my chest* so that it would all look perfectly blended like a tanned goddess on the victorias secret runway show.
I was impressed enough by the first swatch that I decided to purchase it, unfortunately by the time I got home I had realised that the lighting in Mecca wasn't the best and the foundation was a little bit lighter and pinker that needed, I still, put the foundation to the test and created a full face of makeup with it.
I.WAS.SOLD - This foundation was like heaven, gliding onto my skin like it was made just for me. All it took was a small trip on each cheek, forehead, nose and chin to completely cover my face in medium coverage using my Sigma F80 Kabuki to blend out the foundation. ( Hourglass also sells a brush quite similar to this as they recommend this stiff type of brush for the best results) The blending ability was second to none and can easily be sheered out or built up for a full coverage look.
Set with my usual powders and I was off ready for they day. Australia day was the first day I properly wore this foundation and it was HOT, it didn't budge, shine or seperate in any area which was quite an exciting revelation for me.
My skin is more on the normal side only getting oily if Im exercising and dry if I don't wash it regularly so I wasn't too worried about how it would last opposed to how it looked and applied.
My skin looked FLAWLESS like I had been airbrushed in real life, the foundation didn't settle into my fine lines as much as other foundations and I didn't feel like I was wearing a mask.
To say the least I felt like Kimmy K minus the million dollar bank account and killer booty, it made me feel a million bucks. Ive always liked my skin but this foundation made me LOVE it. So much so that I went back in to purchase a colour perfect for my tan colour. I now Mix my two shades to create the perfect colour for false tan, Ivory and Sand.
To wrap this essay of a review up, I am outstandingly happy to say the least. Its application was flawless, the coverage easy to build or sheer and longevity was second to none. I am an hourglass convert and this is my go to foundation to date.
I even filmed a tutorial on my first impressions of this foundation so feel free to check it out.
* Colour matching should always occur on your chest area as you want the face to match flawlessly with the rest of the body - people often colour match to their hands or face which is a big NoNo as these areas are usually a lot lighter and pinker than the rest of the body which will result in a non flawless application.
I hope you all loved this review, and I loved doing it for you. Please let me know if there are any products that you want reviewed! I absolutely loved testing this foundation to its limits and it passed with flying colours.
Until next time !
